No. 12 Cal Breezes Through Quarterfinal

Los Angeles – No. 2 seed California had no trouble with No. 10 seed Washington in Friday's Pac-10 Tournament quarterfinal game. Starters Ashley Walker and Devanei Hampton sat a majority of the second half as the Golden Bears blew past the Huskies 61-41. Ashley Walker played only 16 minutes, but it was enough to score 14 points and pull down 10 boards. California dominated inside as Walker and Devanei Hampton scored at will. The Bears outscored Washington 30-18 in the paint and outrebounded the Huskies 37-20.

Cal extended its lead to as much as 29 in the second half after leading 31-17 at the break. Golden Bear head coach Joanne Boyle used her bench for much of the second half.

The Bears will face USC on Saturday at 6 p.m. in one semifinal. The game will air live on Fox Sports Net. Cal is 2-0 against the Trojans this season winning both contests by two points.

After the game, Cal Sports Digest caught up with Walker and backup Rachelle Federico.
