Cal Lands Rising Texas OL Prospect

Cal's 2010 recruiting class just keeps on rolling. For the second consecutive day, an out of state offensive lineman verbally commits to the Golden Bears. Mesquite (Tex.) Dallas Christian School's Chris Adcock made the call Thursday night to the Cal coaches…

Chris Adcock (6-3, 282) visited California last weekend for the Golden Bears' Junior Day and Spring Game. The talented offensive lineman plays tackle, but Cal is recruiting him as an interior player.

"Cal-Berkley was impressed with my highlight film and wanted to have me out for the junior day," Adcock told last week before heading out to California. "Definitely [are recruiting me as a] guard or center, I play tackle in high school, but I will play wherever someone needs me."

The Golden Bears were his first offer, and Adcock mulled it over a few days before making his decision.

"I wanted to let you know that I spoke with Coach [Jeff} Tedford and [OL] Coach [Steve] Marshall last night and gave them my commitment to Cal," Adcock informed via email. "My family and I are very excited about my future with Cal".

Adcock had stated prior to his junior day visit academics was a priority. "Number one is academics, two is their program and how I fit in the program. I would like to major either in pre-med or engineering."

Adcock is the second offensive lineman to commit to the Bears in as many days. Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman OL Geoff Gibson committed to Coach Marshall and Cal on Wednesday evening. Their commitments give Cal six verbal commitments for the 2010 class. The Bears didn't reach six verbal commitments for the 2009 class until late November.
