At 6'2, 200-lbs, with 4.5 speed, Lewis is an impressive athlete. Hence, the offers have been coming in steadily throughout the process.
"I have seven offers," he reported, "Wisconsin, Indiana, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Western Michigan, Buffalo said they would offer soon, Illinois State and I'm at Cal this week, so I might get an offer from them."
His most recent offer camp from the Badgers, his instate school.
"It was a great relief," he said of the UW offer, "I've been waiting on them for a while. It was great to know they like me that much. It's an honor. We played the state championship football game there and the field is nice. I have a lot of friends there and it's close to home."
Lewis' teammate, defensive tackle Bryce Gilbert is already committed to Wisconsin. Another teammate, his backfield mate, Xavier Whitaker, is committed to Indiana. Lewis just happens to have an offer from the Hoosiers as well.
"The Indiana offer came in May and I've been down there. I love the campus and the coaches are genuine," Lewis said, but added, "His (Whitaker's) commitment isn't going to influence me. I'm keeping my options open."
One option which may soon present itself is the University of California. Lewis has been out there training with his uncle, speed guru Thomas Weatherspoon of Training Ground.
"I've been out in Oakland with my uncle. He has trained a lot of pro athletes like Lebron James. I haven't seen Cal yet, but we will."
Even though Lewis says he wants to stay open minded about the process, he will only do that for so long, as a decision could come relatively soon.
"I'll probably make a decision before fall."
