Rowland Makes Surprising Move

Peoria (Az.) Centennial offensive guard Nick Rowland, one of Cal's top offensive line recruits, cancels Berkeley trip. Find out why inside...

Four-star offensive guard Nick Rowland from Peoria (Az.) Centennial announced just a few weeks ago that he had scheduled four of his five official visits. Cal, Stanford, Oregon and Washington were the four.

Rowland has had a change of heart, cancelling two of those visits and dropping them from his consideration.

Cal and Stanford were the two schools dropped and while he said it was a hard decision, it was one that needed to be made.

"Cal has three other offensive line commits and they have one spot open for a tackle but I don't see myself as a tackle, I am a guard," said Rowland.

"I have the utmost respect for the Stanford staff and Coach Harbaugh is a great guy but I just don't see myself going there."

Rowland has informed both staffs already.

The 6-4 300 pounder still plans to visit Oregon and Washington and says Arizona State will also get a visit but he has not set a date yet.

Centennial is currently 1-0 and they play at Chandler High (1-0) this Friday.
