Four-Star TE Adds Cal Offer to Visit Berkeley

Strongsville (OH) tight end Ray Hamilton is one of the heaviest recruited players in the Buckeye State, and he continues to add to his already impressive offer list. He picked up three more offers in the past week, from California, Cincinnati and Oklahoma. Bill Greene has the latest on Hamilton's recruitment...

Ray Hamilton (6-5, 230) is one of the finest tight end prospects in the Midwest, as well as one of the highest-rated players in the Ohio class of 2011.

He has put together one of the more impressive scholarship offer lists of any player in Ohio, and this past week he added three more to his take.

"I was offered by California, Cincinnati and Oklahoma in the past few days, and I'm very excited by all three offers," Hamilton said of the new offers. "I don't know a lot about Oklahoma, but I know how they use their tight ends. They're a big-time program, and that means a lot to me. Of course, I followed how they used Jermaine Gresham, and that appeals to me. I would love to see them in person."

"Cincinnati recruited me under the old staff, but I don't know too much about these guys at all yet," he continued.

"I want to watch and see how they use the tight end this year. I am very interested in California, and I'm going to be flying out there later this month, to check them out, along with seeing Stanford."

Hamilton, who holds offers from Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and several others, has a very busy schedule planned, as far as taking unofficial visits.

"I'm going to Michigan next Saturday, and on Sunday I'm either going to Pittsburgh or Cincinnati," he continued.

"After the Cal and Stanford visits, I will be going to Wisconsin and Iowa. I'll be visiting a lot of places over the next few months, to help me make the right decision. I want to see as many schools as possible."

With so many visits planned, and more offers coming in on a weekly basis, Hamilton is not sure when he will be making his final decision.

"It's so tough to say, because there are so many schools I haven't seen yet," he stated. "I'm approaching this like it's a school project, and I'm going to do all the research I can. This is such a huge decision, and it will have an effect on the rest of my life, so I don't want to rush into anything. I'm going to take me time, and make as informed a decision as I possibly can."

"Once I find the right school, I will make my commitment, and I won't be going back on my word," he explained.

"Once I give my word, that will be the end of it. I'm not worried about committing before my season starts, to protect myself from injury. You can't control injuries, and that won't play a part in my decision."
