Four-Star WR Feeling Cal

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei receiver Victor Blackwell (6-1, 195) is one of the premier playmakers in the West.

And he knows how to make an entrance.

The first time he touched the ball in 2008 was on a nationally televised contest against Carson (Calif.), and Blackwell took the opening kickoff back 99 yards for a score. He'd go on to spend the 2008 season as one of Matt Barkley's favorite targets.

As a junior in 2009, he became Max Wittek's go-to-guy and in 2010, figures to do the same.

This past weekend, Blackwell was still Wittek's go-to-guy at the Badger/New Level 7on7 Tournament in Las Vegas, and was one of the top receivers there.

That's consistency for Blackwell, who's one of the premier playmakers in the West in the class of 2011, and has a host of offers to choose from.

"My offers right now are from Oregon State, UCLA, Washington, California and Tennessee," said Blackwell. "And I think, pretty soon I'll have one from USC and maybe Georgia."

Blackwell said a few schools are standing out for him.

"I really like Cal right now, it's a cool Pac-10 school," said Blackwell. "I like Georgia a lot, Cal and Georgia are my top two schools. USC of course, I love USC. And I like UCLA a lot too, they're real cool."

The four-star said he doesn't see a commitment coming anytime soon.

"I'm taking all five of my official visits and definitely going through the whole process until I find the right fit for me," said Blackwell. "I don't want to commit early. I want to see what other schools offer me. Hopefully USC and Georgia offer me."

Blackwell said his visit to Cal went well, and the Bears are making a big impression on him, as are the two Los Angeles schools.

"Cal, they're my favorite right now and recruiting me the hardest, and the Junior Day up there was pretty good," said Blackwell. "USC has Matt there and I've always loved them. And Chris Ward is working on me pretty hard with UCLA too. They were one of the first to offer me."

Blackwell said he's not sure what camps he will attend this spring, but plans to attend USC's Rising Stars Camp again, as he did a year ago.

Academically, he has a 2.7 GPA and took the SAT but awaits his results.

Blackwell had 52 receptions for 1,044 and scored 11 touchdowns in 2009.
