Valley Athlete Gets First Offer

Fresno (Calif.) Central wide receiver/defensive back Ernest Carter did everything for the Grizzlies last season. He lined up at receiver, running back, defensive back, and kick returner. Earlier this week, he received his first offer…

Ernest Carter (5-8, 160) landed his first offer earlier this week.

"I talked to Western Carolina and they gave me an offer," said Carter.

"[Coach Dennis Wagner] told me basically he wants to be No. 1 that he's looking for a beastly type athlete. I told him I could do whatever he needs. He told me he's going to be sending me my papers."

Carter can play both sides of the field and has no preference where he plays at the next level. He is just glad to get his first one out of the way.

"I was kind of worried that I wasn't going to get an offer, I'm relieved and excited," said Carter.

But he is not ready to make an early decision. "I'm going to wait for more options but I'm interested [in Western Carolina]," he added.

Carter says Arizona State, Cal Poly, UCLA, and Washington have come through school this spring. He's spoken with the coaches, and he is interested in all four programs.

Academically, he reports a 2.7 GPA. He takes the SAT on June 5 for the first time. Top Stories
