Baker has Busy Summer Planned

Mike Baker (6-2, 190) was an all-state selection last season as a sophomore. He's receiving interest from a number of BCS schools. He hasn't received any offers to date, but he hopes his performance at summer camps will result in some official offers come September 1.

Earlier this month, he competed at the Elite 11 Regional Camp in Berkeley and the Stanford Nike Football Training Camp. "First going in on Friday (Elite 11) my arm was good then it got a bit tired," said Baker. "It wasn't my best day on Friday. I took a couple days off before Friday; I had to get in rhythm. My passes were a lot better on Sunday (NFTC).

Along with Zach Kline, Bart Houston, and Connor Brewer, Baker is considered one of the top signal callers in the West for the 2012 class. All four were at the Elite 11 Regional Camp. "I feel like I'm right there with them," added Baker. "They got a lot of talent."

Baker was also in Berkeley in April for Tom Lemming's photo shoot. Afterward he stayed to watch California practice and talk to the coaches. "Meeting [OC] Coach [Andy] Ludwig and watching the quarterbacks was cool," said Baker. "They want me to come down to the Cal camp to get another look at me."

But he might not make back to the Golden Bears camp. He planned to camp at Cal on June 6 then fly to Arizona for their camp on June 7 and 8. He's now going to camp at Arizona June 6-8. He may camp at Cal later in mid-June after his team participates at a 7on7 tournament at Stanford.

Baker will also camp with his team June 11-14 at Fresno State and then go to individual camps at Washington and Oregon State at the end of the month.

Meantime, schools continue to visit Central to talk to head coach Casey Quinn about the sophomore signal caller. "Utah, Arizona, Miami, and Cal have been by," Baker added. "They want to see how I develop."

Currently, Baker likes six schools: Cal, Utah, Arizona, Oregon State, Fresno State, and Washington.

Academically, he reports a 2.95 GPA.
