Patrick Flavin (6-7, 260) plans on visiting California next week and Boston College the week after and says he'll narrow down his list at that point.

"I'm still looking around," Flavin said. "I don't have my list yet, but I will soon. I just need to visit Cal and Boston College and I'll narrow it down."

Both the Bears and Eagles have already offered Flavin and this will be his first time to both.

"Cal is a school I'm intrigued by," he said. "They're a very good school and I feel like it would be cool to go to school in San Francisco. That seems like a cool place."

He says he also likes the education that Cal offers. "They're like the number one public school in the country," he said about Berkeley. "You can't beat that.

"I also really like all the coaches and can see myself playing for them," he said.

While in the Golden State, Flavin plans on heading south to Los Angeles and will visit UCLA again. He already attended the Bruins spring game earlier this year and they've offered him a scholarship as well.

"I'll be there (UCLA) on Aug. 3," he said. "I really want to get to know coach Rick Neuheisel and (offensive line) coach Bob Palcic better.

"My dad went with me to their spring game and this time my mom is gonna go, so she'll be able to check them out too," he said about the Bruins.

He says that Boston College is recruiting him the hardest. "The amount of mail they send is crazy," he said.

"I also talk to their coaches a lot," he said about the Eagles staff. "I like talking with (offensive line) coach Sean Devine and (tight ends) coach Dave Brock. We usually just chat about life and stuff and not football."

Flavin, ranked as the No. 63 offensive tackle in the country by Scout.com, says he has around 20-25 scholarship offers.

The only camp that Flavin has attended was Notre Dame's one-day camp earlier this summer. The Irish have not offered him yet.

"It sounds like they've got a few guys ahead of me," he said about Notre Dame. "They said that I'm high on their list, but told me to be patient."

Flavin also has offers from Illinois, Purdue, Iowa, Toledo, Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona, Louisville, Indiana, North Carolina State, Duke, Colorado and a few others.

He says he does not have a timeframe for making a decision. "I want good academics and football," he said. "That's the main thing I'm looking for.

"I feel like I've got a good relationship with a lot of these coaches already and it's just a matter of getting a better feel for each program," he said. "I want to experience more what it would be like to actually go there."

Benet Academy starts their 2010 season on Aug. 27 against Oswego East High School.

Flavin plans on majoring in history and reports a 2.9 core GPA and 25 ACT.
