But according to the five-star lineman, three other Grant prospects, including linebacker Darryl Paulo (6-3, 240), free safety James Sample (6-3, 190) and defensive end Faigame Lopa (6-2.5, 250) are looking to stick together in picking a college.
"The most important thing is finding all of us playing together," Moala said. "Right now, Cal is at the top of our list. They haven't offered all of us yet, but I'm hoping the coaches will soon.
"The d-line coach at Cal, Coach (Tosh) Lupoi, I really like a lot. I really like the program too. The hype around football there is really fun and up-tempo. It's a tune that gets prettier each time I'm up there. I'm taking an official to Cal for sure. I want to schedule to go in the next month."
Moala said Washington is a close number two, right behind the Golden Bears.
"Coach (Steve) Sarkisian is a great guy. He really brings a lot to the table. I see him like as almost a father figure to me. He told me, ‘Wherever you decide to commit, just take in all the information and really use it to find what is right for you.' I have a lot of respect for him.
"I'm not sure if we all have offers to U-Dub," said Scout.com's No. 4 defensive tackle. "We haven't got a chance to sit down and map things out yet. I'm hoping to schedule my official visit for the Nebraska game on Sept. 18, but it's not for sure yet."
The Grant Quartet have plans to visit Arizona this Friday (Sept. 3). "We're all going to Arizona on an unofficial this Friday, " he said. "I don't have really a lot of interest in their program, but the coach from Arizona invited us all out there to check it out. Darryl (Paulo) really likes Arizona, so who knows, if he likes it, maybe we all will.
"Nothing is out of the question right now."
Moala said this includes Alabama.
"Buddy's come first, but they don't want me to pass up an opportunity because of them either. The d-line coach, (Bo Davis), is a great guy. He came all the way out here just to visit me right on the field. I was shocked. I guess it's pretty rare for them to come out here to recruit. They just don't do it. There's not a single guy from California on their roster. That they came out here just for me feels pretty great.
"I'd like to take an official, just to check it out," he added, "I want to check out everything first hand. Alabama really knows how to develop their players. They take a very progressive stance at developing players for the NFL. A guy comes in as a skinny freshman and two years later he's built up solid mentally and physically. I'd like to take an official there to learn more about the program and the school."
Moala plans on taking all five officials and is looking to make his decision by the end of the season. "I'm in no big hurry to commit. I want to make sure I've got all the facts before I make any decisions.
Moala reports a 3.2 core GPA (5.0-scale) and a 1265 SAT.
