UCF Faces B-CC

ORLANDO - UCF closes out its four-game series this season with Bethune-Cookman Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Orlando at Jay Bergman Field. The Golden Knights (25-17) have won two of three from the Wildcats (21-20) in 2003 with both victories coming in Daytona Beach.

Tuesday's game is also the final mid-week, non-conference game in 2003 for the Golden Knights. Following Tuesday's contest, UCF closes out the regular season with A-Sun series at Gardner-Webb, Troy State, Stetson and at home vs. Jacksonville.

Tuesday's game starts at 6 p.m., as WNSC will call all of the action from Jay Bergman Field. To listen to the game, log onto the Internet at http://wnsc.ucf.edu to hear the Internet only broadcast.

UCF closes out the week on the road at Gardner-Webb Sunday and Monday. The two games were moved to Sunday and Monday as UCF closes out the academic year with finals all week. Sunday's game, the first-ever meeting between UCF and Gardner-Webb, will be played at Veterans Field at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, N.C. Monday's tilt will be played on campus at Varsity Field in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Scouting Bethune-Cookman
The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman College enter Tuesday's game with an overall record of 21-20 after last weekend's three-game sweep of Norfolk State in Daytona Beach.

B-CC has been playing well down the stretch after winning eight of its last 10 games.

The Wildcats have a solid .303 team batting average along with a 4.63 team ERA.

John Gragg has been by far B-CC's best player this season. The transfer from Arkansas-Little Rock leads the team with a .420 batting average in 40 starts. He also ranks first on the team in hits (63), doubles (13), triples (T-1st/4) and RBI (41).

Gragg has also been solid on the hill for the Wildcats. The senior left-handed pitcher is 6-8 with a 3.77 ERA in 11 appearances including nine starts. In 62.0 innings pitched, opponents are batting just .224 off the southpaw.

Inside The B-CC Series
UCF is 51-12 all-time vs. Bethune-Cookman including a 2-1 record in 2003. The Golden Knights won 1-0 on Feb. 11 and 10-0 Feb. 18 in Daytona Beach while dropping a 7-4 decision Mar. 5 at home to B-CC.

The 51 wins all-time vs. Bethune-Cookman are the second-most for UCF vs. an opponent. The only team that UCF has defeated more all-time is Stetson, as the Golden Knights have downed the Hatters 54 times in school history.
