Florida DE talks recruiting

Akeem Barton is a standout defensive end prospect from Miami Norland High and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Akeem Barton is part of a very good Norland defense that is entering the second round of the state playoffs, as they continue their defense of the state championship from last season. He talked about his season.

"My last (regular season) game I had four sacks and one forced fumble, but I don't know my season stats," Barton said.

At 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, Barton talked about the latest with recruiting.

"North Carolina, Minnesota, FAU, FAMU, and Illinois are some of the schools that talk to me regularly," he said. "I don't have any visits scheduled yet though."

Barton, who is waiting on offers from those schools, talked about what he'll be looking for when choosing a school.

"I don't have any favorites, I'm just looking for the best offer," he said. "Academics mean a lot, I want to major in engineering. I also want to fit in to the defense, I want to get along with the coaching staff, and to just feel at home when I'm on that campus."
