Where Do Knights Stand for Flores?

Nico Flores is considered one of the top quarterbacks in the state of Florida and is ranked as the 47th best QB in the nation according to Scout.com. The multitalented Flores led North Miami Beach H.S. and helped defeat Miami Northwestern, the defending state champions and national powerhouse, 25-0 in a spring football matchup. UCF has offered the standout QB, but where does UCF stand for Flores?

"Would you say UCF is your favorite right now?" InsideKnights.com asked Nico Flores.

"Yes sir," responded Flores with confidence.

Last season, Flores helped lead North Miami Beach H.S to a 12-1 record, throwing for 1,571 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning him Class 4A-6A 2nd Team. His impressive on-field production and incredible measurables have led to four scholarship offers from Boston College, Mississippi St, FIU and UCF. All four schools present something unique for Flores, but according to the 47th ranked QB in the nation, the Knights currently have the most to offer.

"UCF impresses me the most right now," Flores told Inside Knights. "They have everything; a great coaching staff, a team with terrific work ethic and it's a great opportunity to be part of an up and coming program."

Flores is looking for several aspects in a program and feels UCF can meet his needs.

"Education is the most important thing for me, and then the feel of the program. Do I feel at home? That's very important for me, I want to go to a place where I am comfortable."

This summer, Flores worked with his teammates and didn't make any trips to colleges.

"I stayed back with my team in order to develop chemistry, which I think is important. It really helped, I got to further know fellow players and was able to figure out how far they were all willing to go to get better."

North Miami Beach's coach, Jeff Bertani, has handled most of Flores' recruiting, something that has relieved the talented QB.

"Coach helping has been great, it helps me stay more focused on football instead of the recruiting process and he truly wants what's best for you. We will make some trips towards the end of the season; I'll probably visit UCF Boston College, FIU and Mississippi St."

At 6'2", 175 lbs, Flores has solid size, and he runs his 40-yard dash in the low 4.7's.

"I've gotten into the 4.6's a few times, but I'd like to get that a little lower. I also play safety and corner, so I need to get it down some."

Measurables aside, Flores also has an excellent presence in the pocket and has stellar agility when rolling out. His biggest asset though is his arm.

"My throwing power and accuracy are my strengths. My mobility also helps out a lot." Flores says he will take his time making a decision, but UCF is definitely at the top for him now, and Flores has a great relationship with UCF's coaches, something that will help as the process heats up.

"I talk to Coach Kelly a lot. He's a very cool, down to earth guy. I've talked to Coach O'Leary too, and he's also a really cool guy. He seems like a hard worker and also is down to earth."
