Recruiting Predictions for UCF

As UCF is trying to put the finishing touches on its 2009 recruiting class, things are starting to shape up, but there are still a lot of question marks. How will it all end? Check out InsideKnights.com's prediction of what UCF's class will look like come February.

JD Bernstein:
I believe the Knights will land Jonathan Davis, Nico Flores, and Kemal Ishmael; these players are coveted by UCF and the love is reciprocated. I also think they land Kwame Geathers. I see them losing out on Denard Robinson and Luther Robinson, Denard to UF or Michigan, and Luther to Miami. I also see them losing Leon Woods and Samuel Johnson due to grades. Woods I see being replaced by Willie Haulstead who I believe will be a Knight, I don't see them replacing Johnson, as I don't see UCF landing Johnnie Farms. So the way I see it now is they add four of the guys they really want and lose two, that is only adding two. The following four names will be Knights if UCF decides they want them: Nico Ranieri, Donny McElveen, Brandon Bryant, and/or Alvin Hines. Hines is probably the top replacement for Brian Jackson, who UCF lost out on in a close race to Oregon. From what I am hearing UCF only wants one quarterback, so McElveen and Ranieri are probably off the list. Bryant is the only one I see as a legit possibility since the Knights only have one true DE commit in Victor Gray, and I don't see Victor Gray as an every down DE. The Knights stopped recruiting LB's so I don't see them going there, as they addressed the secondary and the front defensively. They went after quarterbacks and receivers heavily, but not offensive linemen or running backs. I don't see a running back that they land, as Trabis Ward is going to go to the biggest name school that offers him, that is of course if he qualifies, and I think Mike Gillislee goes to UF, which in all honesty it is a better fit for him.

Brendan Sonnone:
My class isn't as sexy as J.D.'s. The Knights will be reeling a little from losing Evan Swindall and are really hoping that Samuel Johnson's grades are in order. Throw in not landing Jackson and there is a little more room at other positions. George O'Leary said in a press conference that he's looking at adding two quarterbacks. Flores is obviously the first one and I have a gut feeling that McElveen might be the second if the team cannot add Ranieri. I personally like McElveen a lot. Leon Woods is also a concern with grades but I think adding Willie Haulstead is a bit of a stretch. I agree that Denard Robinson is a reach right now, although he would be a great acquisition. Brandon Bryant could add some depth at defensive end and the team knows it can have him if needed, which might be the case. I feel very strongly that Jonathan Davis will also be added to this class. There might be a surprise running back that comes at the end of the class but that is unlikely.

Notes:
* Woods and Johnson both have reported grade issues that could affect their signing.

** Simon might be a redshirt if he doesn't get a good report on his knee when he takes his visit.

*** Davis is looking around at other schools and a large part of that is possibly because the Knights gave him the o.k. too. However, the depth of the class might be in question now after losing Swindall and with Woods' and Johnson's status in the air, so Davis could now be more of a priority.
