Sweet Revenge for Tulsa (Tulsa, OK)— The Tulsa Golden Hurricane evened the season series with a slumping UCF team as they answered rally after rally by the Knights, and won, 79-70. Tulsa helped exorcise the demons that were bestowed upon them just a few weeks ago as they blew a 17-point lead to lose on a last-second shot by freshman guard A.J. Rompza at the UCF Arena. On Wednesday, Tulsa received a career-high 28 points from center Jerome Jordan, and senior guard Ray Reese, playing in his final contest, added 16 points. UCF star guard Jermaine Taylor paced the Knights with 29 points, and while doing so set a new C-USA single-season scoring record.
Tulsa (21-9, 11-4 C-USA) won their fourth straight game and hasn't lost since the game at UCF. The Knights (16-13, 6-9 C-USA) have lost seven out of their last eight games.
Herd get back to .500 (Huntington, WV)— Marshall continued their fine play of late as they took down the Rice Owls, 76-62. Senior forward Markel Humphrey led the Herd with 20 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore forward Tirrell Baines added 18. Rice was led by senior guard Rodney Foster's 17 points, six assists, and five rebounds, and Trey Stanton added 16.
Marshall (15-15, 7-8 C-USA) has won three straight and four of their last five. Rice (9-20, 4-11 C-USA) has lost five of their last six games.
Business as Usual for Tigers (Houston, TX)— Memphis continued steamrolling over their C-USA opponents as they went on the road and defeated a tough Houston Cougars team, 79-70. The Tigers broke open a tight game with one of their patented end of the game runs, this time by shooting a perfect 14-14 from the free-throw line. Super freshman Tyreke Evans led the Tigers with 23 points, while Shawn Taggert added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Memphis (26-3, 15-0 C-USA) has the longest winning streak in the nation, as they've conquered 21 straight opponents, and have won 57 consecutive conference games. Houston (18-10, 9-6 C-USA) has dropped two of their last three games.
Jackson leads UTEP over UAB (El Paso, TX)— Conference USA all-time leading scorer Stefon Jackson bucketed 30 points to lead UTEP over Tulane, 70-52. The Miners went on a 13-2 run with 15 minutes left in the second half to break open a close game. Senior guard Robert Vaden led the Blazers with 17 points, but struggled from the field as he connected on just 5-18 shots from the field.
UTEP (18-11, 9-6 C-USA) has won two out of their last three games, while UAB (20-10, 10-5) has lost two out of their last three.
