Knights Rank High

UCF ranks high for this lineman prospect from Georgia. With an ever-expanding list of offers, what kind of impression has UCF made? Find out and see video.

Standing at 6'5", 280 lbs., Grant Ramsay from Pope H.S. (GA) has the size that coaches covet in an offensive lineman. However, Ramsay is more than just a big body.

"I'm quick off the ball," Ramsay told "I get out fast and get real low in my stance. I also have a good motor and keep going all the time."

This combination of size and surprising speed has caught the eyes of coaches across the country. As of now, Ramsay is holding offers from UCF, Minnesota and FIU, with several more on the way.

"Tennessee, Arizona, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and actually most ACC or SEC schools have been sending letters. Michigan St., Iowa St., and Stanford have also shown interest too. I am expecting to have offers from Arizona and Tennessee pretty soon, I was invited to go up to Knoxville for camp in June."

Ramsay is excited with the attention he has started to receive.

"It's definitely a relief. My first offer came from Minnesota and the next day I got an offer from UCF during their Junior Day."

Ramsay attended UCF's first Junior Day in March and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

"I loved it. I loved every single thing there. They have put a lot of money in that program and Coach O'Leary has turned things around down there. My mom actually went to school there and she said it has really changed."

Coach Brent Key is recruiting Ramsay for the Knights and as an offensive line coach, he has developed a good report with the lineman.

"I really like him," Ramsay told Inside Knights. "I feel like I can relate to him. I like his vibe and I think he's a great coach to play for."

With an apparent fondness for UCF, Ramsay has gone as far to list the Knights as one of his favorites.

"UCF is in the top two for me along with Minnesota."

Ramsay plans on visiting Minnesota next weekend and then will get ready for spring practice, which starts in late May for him.

"I love lifting but I cannot wait to get pads on and start hitting again."

Ramsay is looking for a school with stability amongst its staff and with rich tradition.

"I'm looking for a place where I can feel like I fit in. Right now, UCF looks the part."

The Knights might be able to get a solid verbal from Ramsay in July if things keep heading in the same direction. Minnesota will be a contender as will any SEC school that offers, but the Knights have impressed Ramsay thus far and he plans on making his decision fairly early in the summer.

"I talked with my coaches and my family. We agreed that I'd like to have my decision made no later than July, that way I can focus on school and the upcoming season."
