UCF Amongst Ponder's Favorites

Trinity Catholic's Dionte Ponder has seen his stock take off this summer and is piling up offers. With offers from several prominent BCS schools, UCF will be going amongst some solid competition, but the Knights are undoubtedly making an impact on the star corner.

Rutgers, Duke, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee State. These are the schools along with UCF that have offered Dionte Ponder, a skilled corner back from Ocala's Trinity Catholic High School. Ponder, intrigued by all the offers he's received, has begun to narrow down his list already.

"Right now, Duke, UCF and Cincinnati are my favorites in that order," Ponder told InsideKnights.com.

The Blue Devils have impressed Ponder with an energetic coaching staff and selling him on making an immediate impact. Cincinnati has also shown some interest and Ponder has recognized the Bearcats ability to send players to the NFL. Duke has long been the favorite but the Knights are starting to make their move.

"They are showing a lot of interest and they're close to home. It would be great to have my mom come to games."

UCF's coachinghas made an equally big imp staff act as well.

"Coach Collins is recruiting me, he's a cool guy. He's a good person and I can see him as a friend, as a person you can hang out with."

Although he's just an hour away, Ponder hasn't seen UCF's campus yet, but the Knights might be able to show off their state-of-the-art facilities to the Ocala native by next week.

"No, I haven't gone to UCF yet, but I'll probably be going next week (week of the 27th) with my family and some coaches."

Ponder is looking at heading to see some of his other favorites too.

"Duke is trying to get me up there as soon as possible, so we're trying to make it happen. Cincinnati wants me up there too."

It likely won't be until after he takes all his visits that Ponder will make his choice of where he will advance his education and playing career.

"I'll probably wait until after my officials to make a decision."
