UCF Game Balls

The Knights couldn't surmount a comeback after falling down 14-0 to Southern Miss in the first quarter. UCF fought back but in the end they came up short, losing 26-19. Which players gave UCF a spark to give the team a chance?

Brett Hodges- For the second game in a row, the senior quarterback came in and settled down the offense. Hodges went 15-of-26 for 158 yards and two touchdowns, but more important than his stats was his presence. The Knights are far and away a better team offensively when he's in and without him, this game could have been ugly.

Jamar Newsome- He had just two receptions but for the second game in a row, he made a timely play. Last week the receiver hauled in what would be the game-winning touchdown and against Southern Miss he had an 89-yard kickoff return that setup a Knights touchdown with under two minute to go in the game.

Kamar Aiken- He's making big plays, what more can you say. Last week Aiken set up two score for the Knights as he averaged 21 yards per reception and this week he had another impressive stat line, grabbing four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Rocky Ross- Ross continues to be reliable, as he led the team in receptions for the second consecutive week. He finished with five receptions for 56 yards and a score.

Torrell Troup- For three quarters he was solid but fatigue set in and the defensive tackle became a non-factor late in the game. With players behind him missing way too many tackles, Troup was probably the only player to have a complete game, or at least three-quarters of one.
