Okay, I'm going down to Addison to watch Luke Meyer tomorrow night. I have been taking a crash course in what to look for when evaluating high school basketball players. The links above are just a few examples of what I have been reading.
If any of you have anything in particular you feel I should be looking for just let me know. My big point of reference has to be Chris Kaman. I remember Chris played guard before his big growth spurt and it showed when he finally made it to 7-0. He had quick feet and good control of his body, could catch and dribble the ball with ease, could make quick spin moves and go up with either the right or left hand. And he was a big time rebounder. I still remember when he had 20+ rebounds in a game with Michigan which is almost unheard of. Seven or eight rebounds in a game is pretty good.
I understand Luke has already made a verbal commitment to CMU and has had offers from a number of MAC schools. He is only in the 11th grade. If he continues to develop and play well I expect he will attract some interest from bigger programs in the future. With the little I know about him so far I just hope we can hang on to him.
