Cotton Named MAC West Offensive POTW

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan junior running back Paris Cotton of Hialeah (Fla.) High School has been named the Mid-American Conference's West Division Offensive Player of the Week.

Paris Cotton ran for 209 yards on 21 carries (10.0 yards per carry) and three touchdowns in the Chippewas' 52-14 win at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

He scored on runs of 13 yards, 1 yard and 61 yards while also catching three passes for 36 yards.

Cotton's 200-yard effort was the 31st in school history and first for a Chippewa since 2004.

He has rushed for 343 yards and five touchdowns through the season's first three games. His 114.3 yards per game average ranks 16th nationally. He also ranks second on the team in receptions with 11.

Cotton earns the conference's weekly honor for the first time in his career. He is the second Chippewa to be recognized by the MAC this season; Nick Bellore was named MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week after making 11 tackles in the season opener against Hampton.

Central Michigan (2-1 overall, 1-1 MAC) visits Northwestern in nonconference action this weekend. Big Ten Network will televise the contest, set for 11 a.m. Central Time kickoff.
