CMU Basketball to Make Four ESPN Appearances

MOUNT PLEASANT - The 2011 Mid-American Conference men's basketball package with ESPN has been finalized, placing Central Michigan University on the ESPN family of networks at least two more times this winter and guaranteeing the Chippewas at least four nationally televised games in 2010-11.

Two of the three confirmed dates in the league package involve the Chippewas. Central Michigan will appear on ESPNU January 30 at Akron (6 p.m.) and February 5 at Kent State (5 p.m.).

In addition, the network announced two wildcard selection dates - February 26 (ESPNU, 11 a.m.) and March 4 (ESPN2, 7 p.m.) - in which the Chippewas could be one of the MAC matchups to be televised.

"Being selected during conference play for national television is a strong sign that our program is headed in the right direction," said fifth-year CMU head coach Ernie Zeigler. "It is a privilege to have these opportunities and be among select company. We have gained some respect as the defending West champions and we get to go up against two East Division teams that are annually at the top of the conference. It is an honor to be the West Division foe paired against them in what will be two great games for television."

The Chippewas were already scheduled to play on ESPN November 16 as part of the network's "College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon," and on ESPNU at home against Detroit December 18.
