Chippewas Insider has learned that Sandersville (Ga.) Washington County defensive end Chris Boss (6-4, 225) and linebacker Antrione Archer (6-3, 210) have both made verbal commitments to play football for Central Michigan.
The two had made official visits to CMU over the weekend. They become the fourth and fifth members of a Washington County defense who have committed to a Division I-A college football program.
The defense, better know as the "black shirts," compiled a record eight shutouts this season en route to a 12-2 record for the Golden Hawks. Washington County lost in the Georgia Class AAA state semifinals to eventual state champion LaGrange.
Boss and Archer are expected to add much needed speed and strength to a Chippewa defense that struggled this season during a 3-9 campaign.
This brings to 15 the number of verbal commitments in CMU's 2004 recruiting class. The Chippewas still have as many as six scholarships remaining to offer. National signing day is set for Wednesday Feb. 4th when verbal commitments become binding.
