Chippewas Insider has learned that standout Illinois offensive lineman Jeff Gilbert (6-4, 275) of West Chicago High School has made a verbal commitment to Central Michigan.
Gilbert reportedly made a pledge to the Chippewas during an in-home visit yesterday with running backs coach Butch Jones.
Gilbert is scheduled to make his official visit to CMU this weekend. He becomes the seventh overall verbal commitment and second offensive lineman in the Chippewas 2005 recruiting class, joining OL Adam Antonides of Lapeer (Mich.) West High School.
He had recruiting interest from a number of Mid-American Conference schools, including Northern Illinois, Ball State and Western Michigan.
