The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting today that running back Dana Brown of Clairton (Pa.) High School made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa following his official visit there this past weekend.
"It's a Big Ten school and they're going to give me the opportunity to play where I want to play in college, which is tailback," Brown told the Tribune-Review.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Brown was one of the top running backs in Pennsylvania this season. He led Clairton to the WPIAL finals, rushing for 2,140 yards and 36 touchdowns.
Last weekend (Dec. 10-12), Brown made an official visit to Central Michigan University. The Chippewas have a need at the running back position in their 2005 recruiting class with Spencer Lewis and Mike Pryce due to graduate next year and standout Jerry Seymour entering his junior season.
Brown chose the Hawkeyes over offers from CMU, Akron, Kent State, Ohio, Temple and Kentucky.
