Muskegon Heights Star Receives CMU Offer

On the heels of receiving a verbal commitment from Unionville-Sebewaing Area point guard Jordan Bitzer, Central Michigan University has wasted little time in offering one of its top recruiting targets in the 2007 class.

Combo guard David Fox (6-2, 170) of Muskegon Heights High School is arguably one of the finest players in the state of Michigan's 2007 class.

Fox was visiting Central Michigan University Friday and received the news he'd been waiting for from CMU head coach Jay Smith - a scholarship offer.

"Yes, Jay offered him Friday," Muskegon Heights head coach Keith Guy said. "David is very excited about the offer."

Fox is a prime CMU target in the state's '07 class and is being recruited for CMU by assistant coach Lamar Chapman, the former head coach at Muskegon Heights.

One Michigan prep basketball scout recently rated Fox among the top five players competing last month at the Izzo Shootout on the campus of Michigan State.

"The thing about David is he can play multiple positions," Guy said. "CMU is a good situation for him with Lamar and Eddie (Spencer) there. David hasn't set a timeline yet for making a decision but we'll sit down and do that soon."

Fox said he is also receiving recruiting interest from Michigan State and some other Mid-American Conference schools.
