CMU Hoops to Host Key Recruits This Weekend

The Central Michigan University men's basketball program welcomes some key recruits to campus Saturday for the football game against rival Eastern Michigan.

Chippewas Insider has learned that Central Michigan University will host five high school players on campus this weekend for unofficial visits.

Among the five scheduled to visit campus Saturday is Unionville-Sebewaing Area High School senior guard Jordan Bitzer (6-2, 175), who verbally committed to CMU in June.

"Yes, I'm looking forward to this weekend," Bitzer said. "I was over to CMU for the Indiana game earlier this month too."

Bitzer is expected to be joined by four other Michigan prep standouts who are members of the 2007 recruiting class.

The four juniors include guard/forward Austin Thornton (6-6, 185) of Cedar Springs; shooting guard David Fox (6-2, 170) of Muskegon Heights; and two players from East Grand Rapids, point guard Kelvin Grady (5-10, 170) and shooting guard DeMarcus Grady (6-2, 185).

"I'm going to have a good time Saturday and enjoy the game," said Fox, who along with Thornton, was offered a scholarship by the Chippewas in July.

Fox said he has begun to receive recruiting interest from some more schools too, including Western Michigan, Butler and IPFW.

"I've received a few calls the past few weeks," Fox said. "I will probably make a college decision after the upcoming season."

Central Michigan has two scholarships available for the 2007 recruiting class.
