Chippewas Add Two More Verbal Commitments

The Central Michigan University football program has added two more verbal commitments to its 2006 recruiting class.

Chippewas Insider has learned that two more prospects who visited Central Michigan this past weekend have now verbally committed to the Chippewas.

Fullback/linebacker Donald Connelly (6-0, 225) of Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison High School and wide receiver Matt Torres (6-2, 185) of Naples (Fla.) High School committed this week during in-home visits with CMU coaches.

"Yes, (CMU) coach (Robert) Diaco was here today and told me that Matt committed during an in-home visit," Naples assistant coach Paul Horne said. "Matt is excited and looking forward to contributing at the next level the best he can."

Torres' teammate, offensive lineman Hector Hernandez, also visited CMU this past weekend but has not made his decision yet.

"Hector has visits scheduled in January with South Florida and Clemson," Horne said. "He's also hearing from Oklahoma and UConn."

With the addition of Torres and Connelly, CMU now has five verbal commitments, including three of six recruits who made official visits to campus this past weekend.
