Chippewas Insider has learned that cornerback/wide receiver Xavier Torres (6-1, 180) of Chicago Lane Tech has made a verbal commitment to Central Michigan.
This season, Torres totaled 917 yards and 13 touchdowns for Lane Tech while last year he caught 32 passes for 1,027 yards and 10 TDs.
Torres is reportedly scheduled to take his official visit to CMU this weekend. He also listed offers from Air Force and Holy Cross.
He becomes the first Illinois prep and 13th player overall in the Chippewas' 2006 recruiting class.
