CMU Receives Verbal Commitment for 2007 Class

On the heels of an outstanding 2006 recruiting class, the Central Michigan University football program has already landed its first recruit for next year's class.

Two years ago, Central Michigan landed early commitments from two standout offensvie linemen at Stevensville (Mich.) Lakeshore High School.

Those two linemen, Adam Benke and Andrew Hartline, are today listed as starters for the Chippewas heading into the 2006 season.

Chippewas Insider has learned that last week, CMU received a verbal commitment from yet another standout Michigan lineman, junior defensive end Chris Starkey (6-4, 230) of DeWitt High School.

Starkey's commitment to the Chippewas 2007 recruiting class becomes the earliest verbal pledge to the CMU football program ever.

A tight end and defensive end for DeWitt, Starkey listed interest from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Wisconsin in addition to the Chippewas.
