Comcast Local will air CMU's Mid-American Conference opener against defending conference champ Akron on Sept. 16 and the Chippewas' visit to Eastern Michigan on Sept. 23. The Akron game is slated to kick off at 1 p.m. in Kelly/Shorts Stadium, while the CMU-EMU game will begin at 3:30 p.m.
Both games will be available to 1.6 million households in Michigan and Indiana. The anticipated launch of Comcast Local in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area later this summer could push distribution of the games past 2 million households.
Central Michigan is already slated to make at least five appearances on the ESPN family of networks in 2006, including the Aug. 31 season opener against Boston College that will air on ESPN2. Kickoff of that contest is 6 p.m. in Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Further television appearances could be announced later in the season as part of the MAC Game of the Week package.
