Standout Defensive End Commits to CMU

The Central Michigan University football program had a big week on the recruiting front with a verbal commitment from a standout defensive end.

Chippewas Insider has learned that defensive end Lance Beers (6-3, 240) of Dearborn Heights (Mich.) Crestwood High School made a verbal commitment to Central Michigan University this week.

Beers was being recruited by a number of Mid-American Conference and Big Ten schools, including Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern and Purdue, in addition to the Chippewas.

He becomes the seventh verbal commitment in CMU's 2007 recruiting class and the fourth Michigan prep player, joining linebacker Mike Petrucci, linebacker Zach Benke and tight end/defensive end Chris Starkey.
