Watson Named Preseason All-MAC

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Central Michigan University junior guard Giordan Watson has been named to the 2006-07 preseason All-Mid-American Conference West Division team by the MAC News Media Association.

Giordan Watson was an honorable mention All-MAC selection last season after leading the team in scoring and assists. He ranked 11th in the MAC in scoring (13.8), fifth in assists (4.43), tied for eighth in steals (1.54), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.08), and 14th in free throw percentage (.762). The 5-10 Southfield, Mich. native also led the league in minutes played with 37.8.

Joining Watson on the West Division squad are James Hughes (Northern Illinois), Justin Ingram (Toledo), Julien "Skip" Mills (Ball State) and Joe Reitz (Western Michigan). The East Division picks are Leon Williams (Ohio), Romeo Travis (Akron), Yassin Idbihi (Buffalo), Martin Samarco (Bowling Green) and Nathan Peavy (Miami).

Watson is slated for his third season as a starter. He led the Chippewas in scoring 13 times last season, including a career-high 30 points against eventual MAC champion Kent State (1/7/06). His 13 assists at Eastern Michigan were the top single-game effort in the MAC last season.

The preseason All-MAC teams will gather in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 24 for the MAC Media Day. Portions of MAC Media Day will be broadcast live on cmuchippewas.com.
