Michigan Quarterback Commits to CMU

The Central Michigan University football program secured another huge verbal commitment following Friday's big win over rival Western Michigan University.

Chippewas Insider has learned that quarterback Audie Cole (6-5, 220) of Monroe (Mich.) High School verbally committed to Central Michigan during a visit to campus for the WMU game Friday night.

A player the Chippewas have targeted since the summer, Cole's size, speed and toughness (he's also a boxer) could allow him to play a number of different positions for CMU, including defensive end or tight end, in addition to quarterback.

Cole helped lead Monroe High School to a 6-4 overall record this season and a berth in the state playoffs.

He also reported an offer from Eastern Michigan and heavy recruiting interest from a host of other Mid-American Conference and Big Ten schools.

Cole becomes the seventh Michigan prep player and tenth verbal commitment overall in CMU's 2007 recruiting class.
