Seven Chippewas Named Academic All-MAC

MOUNT PLEASANT - Seven members of the Central Michigan University football program have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team.

CMU's seven selections are the most of any program in the MAC and comprise nearly one-third of the 22 overall team members. It is the most academic all-conference selections for CMU since 2001.

Daniel Bazuin of McBain (Mich.) High School, a 2006 Academic All-America first team honoree, is a member of the academic all-conference squad for the third consecutive season. Making their second appearance on the team are Red Keith of Franklin (Ga.) Heard County High School, Tony Mikulec, Pontiac (Mich.) Notre Dame Prep and Eric Tunney of Alger (Mich.) Whittemore-Prescott H.S. First-time selections are Brian Brunner of Hartford (Wisc.) Union High School, Doug Kress of Lapeer (Mich.) West H.S. and Dan LeFevour of Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy.

The Academic All-MAC team is voted upon by the conference's 12 faculty athletics representatives. To qualify, student-athletes must compete in 50 percent of the season's contests and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average.
