Chippewas Sign Minnoy and Eddie

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University men's basketball coach Ernie Zeigler has announced the signing of William Eddie III of Detroit Cass Tech High School and Nate Minnoy of Schoolcraft Community College to National Letters of Intent.

William Eddie is a 6-2, 175-pound point guard while Nate Minnoy is a 6-3, 270-pound guard/forward who played one season at Purdue and more recently at Schoolcraft Community College.

Zeigler already inked 6-5 guard Chase Simon of Detroit Community High School and 6-4 guard Jeremy Allen, a teammate of Eddie's at Detroit Cass Tech, during the fall signing period.

"In light of some guys leaving our program, we were able to sign some additional student-athletes who will upgrade our talent level," coach Ernie Zeigler said. "These two give us more depth and will create competition at every position in practice, which is what we need to get better."

In Zeigler's first year as head coach in 2006-07, the Chippewas were 13-18 overall and 7-9 in the Mid-American Conference. CMU was 4-24 overall and 1-17 in the MAC the previous season.

Central Michigan is expected to announce an additional signee in the coming weeks.

Aaron Richie, Andre Smyth and walk-on John Tiemeyer have all left the CMU program and plan on transferring to other institutions.
