Chippewas Insider has learned that power forward Marcus Van (6-7, 220) of Wabash Valley (Ill.) Community College is taking an official visit to Central Michigan University this weekend (April 26-28).
Van averaged 12 points and seven rebounds this season in leading Wabash to a 20-11 record. He prepped at Chicago Curie High School and played AAU ball with current CMU signee Nate Minnoy on the Illinois Fire.
Van also reports offers from Wyoming, UAB and Idaho. The Chippewas have one scholarship remaining for their 2007 recruiting class and are looking for help in the post.
CMU is also recuiting Edwin Ejike Hart (6-8, 240) of Hillsborough (Fla.) Community College, who visited campus two weeks ago. Hart is reportedly visiting Winthrop this weekend and also had been offered a scholarship by South Florida, Houston and New Mexico.
The Chippewas have already signed four players for their 2007 class, including shooting guards Jeremy Allen (Detroit Cass Tech) and Chase Simon (Detroit Community), point guard William Eddie III (Cass Tech) and small forward Nate Minnoy (Schoolcraft Community College).
