Chippewas Insider has learned that former West Virginia University wide receiver John Maddox has plans to play for Central Michigan University.
Maddox, who signed with WVU in February 2006 out of West Philadelphia (Pa.) Catholic High School, must sit out the upcoming season in compliance with NCAA transfer rules. He will have three years of eligibility remaining for the Chippewas beginning with the 2008 season.
Rated among the top high school players in the state of Pennsylvania's 2006 class, Maddox chose the Mountaineers over offers from Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, North Carolina, Rutgers and Syracuse.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash was rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com coming out of high school.
