Florida Teammates Commit to the Chippewas

The Central Michigan University football program received two more verbal commitments from Florida standouts who turned down offers and interest from BCS schools to play for the Chippewas.

Chippewas Insider has learned that Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard High School teammates Lorenzo White Jr. and Derek Carter have both verbally committed to Central Michigan University.

The 6-foot-0, 175-pound White is rated among the top cornerbacks in Florida this year. He's been clocked at 4.42 seconds in the 40-yard dash and turned down an offer from Michigan State to play for the Chippewas. White is the son of former MSU running back Lorenzo White.

Carter, a 6-foot-0, 205-pound safety, reportedly had a January visit scheduled to Rutgers University but committed to CMU following his visit (Dec. 7-9) to the Mount Pleasant, Mich., campus with White.

White and Carter become the fifth and sixth Florida high school players and 16th and 17th prospects overall in CMU's 2008 recruiting class.
