Florida Standout Commits to the Chippewas

The Central Michigan University football program has received yet another verbal commitment from a standout Florida prep player for its 2008 recruiting class.

Chippewas Insider has learned that defensive end Kashawn Fraser of Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch High School verbally committed to Central Michigan University Tuesday night.

Fraser, who is 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, chose the Chippewas over offers and interest from South Florida, Toledo, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic and Florida International.

He was a second team All-Broward County selection by the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Sun Sentinel. Fraser also played in the prestigious Broward/Dade South Florida All-Star game Sunday night along with four of his futre CMU teammates, cornerback Lorenzo White, safety Derek Carter, defensive tackle John Williams and running back Paris Cotton.

Fraser becomes the 20th overall commitment and ninth Florida player in the Chippewas 2008 recruiting class. CMU is also recruiting running back Jahleel Addae of Riverview (Fla.) High School. Addae originally committed to West Virginia last April.
