Alabama Quarterback Visiting CMU

Recruiting for the Central Michigan University football program's 2008 class is winding down. The Chippewas have a few more slots to fill though and are targeting one of the top prospects in Alabama for one of those slots.

Chippewas Insider has learned that Central Michigan University is hosting five recruits on campus this weekend.

The visitors include quarterback Coley White of Daphne (Ala.) High School. White, 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, is the younger brother of West Virginia All-American quarterback Pat White. Coley reports offers from WVU and Georgia Tech in addition to the Chippewas.

Also visiting this weekend is standout defensive end Jamal Collins (6-3, 225) of Miami (Fla.) Northwestern High School. Collins committed to CMU in July. This season he helped lead Northwestern to the Florida Class 6A (big school) state title and a mythical national championship.

Three Michigan prospects complete the list of visitors to CMU this weekend. Those three are two-way lineman Matt Kanitz (6-6, 250) of Cadillac High School, long snapper Brian Bennyhoff (6-0, 225) of Saline High School, and linebacker Jake Bentley (6-1, 200) of Grandville High School. Bentley is the son of CMU Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Bentley, who played in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.
