Addae Commits to the Chippewas

The Central Michigan University football program has won a recruiting battle against two BCS conference schools for one of the top prep players in Florida.

Chippewas Insider las learned that running back Jahleel Addae of Riverview (Fla.) High School verbally committed to Central Michigan University last night.

A 5-foot-11, 185-pounder, Addae originally committed to West Virginia University last April but decommitted from the Mountaineers Monday, Jan. 28, according to the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail.

Rated among the top 100 players in talent rich Florida's 2008 class by one scouting service, Addae gained 1,426 yards and scored 15 touchdowns this season for Riverview. He was recently named to the Florida Class 6A All-State third team.

Addae chose CMU over an offer from Iowa State, where he visited this past weekend (Jan. 25-27), following a visit to CMU the previous weekend (Jan. 18-20).

Addae's brother Jahmile Addae was an All-Big East defensive back at WVU and is currently a graduate assistant coach at the University of Michigan under head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Jahleel becomes the 11th Florida high school player and 21st recruit overall in the Chippewas 2008 recruiting class.
