Chippewas Insider has learned that defensive tackle Todd Johnson of American River (Calif.) College has signed with Central Michigan University after visiting campus this past weekend.
A 6-foot-4, 295-pounder, Johnson helped lead American River to a 4-6 record this season. A standout high school player at Vacaville (Calif.) High School, Johnson is expected to contribute immediately along the defensive front for the Chippewas.
He becomes the 23rd recruit overall and the second defensive tackle in CMU's 2008 recruiitng class, joining prep standout John Williams of Miami Central High School.
Johnson is expected to join the CMU program this summer and reportedly will have three years to complete two years of eligibility.
