Schwarz Commits to CMU

The Central Michigan University football program received more great news this evening in the form of a verbal commitment from Troy (Mich.) High School outside linebacker Will Schwarz. He talked about his decision with Chippewas Insider.

Outside linebacker Will Schwarz of Troy (Mich.) High School committed to Central Michigan University earlier this evening and he couldn't be happier.

"I talked to (CMU head) coach (Butch) Jones about 6 o'clock tonight and told him I want to commit," Schwarz said. "He was real happy and said 'Welcome to the family.'

"I love the coaching staff at CMU," Schwarz added. "I just felt comfortable there and the facilities are great."

The Chippewas battled Stanford for the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Schwarz' commitment. Although he also had scholarship offers from the likes of Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Buffalo, his final decision came down to CMU and Stanford.

"I was thinking CMU for a long time and they (the Chippewas) were my second offer," Schwarz said. "Then Stanford came in and offered so I visited them, but in the end I just thought Central was a better fit. I feel CMU has something great going and I want to be a part of it."

Rated among the top players in the state of Michigan's 2009 class, Schwarz said he could play outside linebacker or defensive end for the Chippewas.

I really don't care where I play," Schwarz said, "both positions you get to hit people."

Schwarz becomes the 21st overall commitment and the eleventh Michigan prep player in CMU's 2009 recruiting class.
