Chippewas Insider has learned that wide receiver Ronnie Kennedy of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School verbally committed to Central Michigan University earlier today.
Kennedy, a 5-foot-7, 155-pounder with 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash, had taken an official visit to CMU this past weekend (Jan. 23-25). Kennedy was scheduled to visit Kansas this weekend before committing to the Chippewas.
He helped lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a 15-0 record and mythical national championship this season. Kennedy scored four rushing touchdowns, two on punt returns as well as one TD each on a kickoff return and interception return.
Kennedy could see early playing time as a return specialist for the Chippewas. He picked CMU over offers from Kansas, Washington, Auburn and Miami University, among other schools. Kennedy will be reunited at CMU with former STA teammate John Carr, a freshman safety this season for the Chippewas.
