This is the second time this year that Marcus Van has earned this honor. He shares it with EMU's Brandon Bowdry with Nate Miller earning the East Division honor.
Van led Central Michigan to a share of the MAC West Division title as the Chippewas went 2-0 last week. The senior forward recorded a pair of double-doubles as he averaged 16 points and 13 rebounds on the week. Vanr had 16 points and 13 rebounds in CMU's home finale, a 59-44 win over Toledo. The Chicago, Ill. native had four offensive boards and a block in 33 minutes of action versus UT. Then on Sunday, Van helped CMU win a share of the title with its first victory at WMU since 2003. He again had 16 points and 13 rebounds, seven offensive, against the Broncos. Van also added two steals and was 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
The Chippewas begin the MAC Tournament on Tuesday as the No. 7 seed. They will play No. 10 seeded Eastern Michigan at Noon in Quicken Loans Arena.
