LeFevour, Bellore Named CMU Football Captains

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan head football coach Butch Jones announced that senior quarterback Dan LeFevour of Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy and junior linebacker Nick Bellore of Whitefish Bay (Wisc.) High School have been elected co-captains of the 2009 CMU football team.

Dan LeFevour and Nick Bellore were selected by a vote of their teammates. Both also served as co-captains in 2008.

The pair also will be joined by one or two gameday captains that are elected on a weekly basis throughout the season.

LeFevour is entering his fourth season as the Chippewas' starting quarterback. He ranks in the top-eight in Mid-American Conference history in total offense (second), completions (sixth), passing yards (seventh), touchdown passes (tied for seventh) and pass attempts (eighth). Among active Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) quarterbacks, LeFevour enters 2009 first in career completions, attempts and total offense, second in passing yards and fourth in touchdown passes. LeFevour ranks 14th in Bowl Subdivision history with 11,702 career yards of total offense.

Bellore has started each of the first 27 games of his collegiate career at linebacker. He earned All-MAC first team honors in 2008 after posting 148 tackles, the third-most in a season in school history. He led the conference and ranked fourth nationally in tackles in 2008. As a true freshman in 2007, Bellore set a CMU freshman record with 102 total tackles.

Central Michigan opens the 2009 season at Arizona on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time).
