Aguila Named MAC West Special Teams POTW

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan University senior kicker Andrew Aguila of Bellflower, Calif., and Compton Junior College has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week.

Andrew Aguila kicked three field goals in the Chippewas' 29-27 win at Michigan State on Saturday, including a 42-yarder with three seconds remaining. He also converted field goals of 49 and 31 yards against the Spartans and kicked a pair of extra points.

After Central Michigan had scored to draw within one point, 27-26, with 32 seconds remaining, Aguila executed an onside-kick that was recovered by CMU's Bryan Anderson and set up the game-winning field goal.

Aguila earns the MAC's weekly honor for the third time in his career.

Palm Beach County Sports Commission Recognizes Aguila Aguila also is one of three national Stars of the Week as recognized by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, sponsor of the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award.

Aguila was recognized along with UCLA's Kai Forbath and South Carolina's Spencer Lanning.

CMU (1-1 overall) hosts Alcorn State Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the home opener at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
