Chippewas Insider has learned that center Nate VanArendonk of Grand Haven (Mich.) High School has verbally committed to Central Michigan.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound VanArendonk is rated the No. 3 center in the state of Michigan's 2010 class by Steve Bell of Bankhoops.com.
VanArendonk joins power forward Colin Voss of East Grand Rapids (Mich.) High School and guard Derek Jackson of Cleveland Benedictine in the Chippewas 2010 recruiting class. Voss and VanArendonk were AAU teammates on the Grand Rapids Storm.
VanArendonk chose the Chippewas over offers and interest from Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Western Michigan, Northeastern, Holy Cross and Stony Brook.
Among the other players CMU is recruiting for next year is Mount Pleasant (Mich.) High School All-American candidate Trey Zeigler, the son of CMU head coach Ernie Zeigler.
