Chippewas Tabbed to Win MAC West

MOUNT PLEASANT - The Mid-American Conference has released its men's basketball preseason coaches poll, tabbing Central Michigan as the favorite to bring home a West Division title in 2010.

The Chippewas, who were co-2009 West Division champions, have won three division titles in the last nine years.

Central Michigan (10 first-place votes, 113 points) edged Northern Illinois (four first-place votes, 102 points) and Eastern Michigan (three first-place votes, 94 points) atop the division.

Akron (19 first-place votes, 190 points) is projected to win the East and received a league-high 19 votes as the favorite to win the 2010 MAC Tournament.
