Jordan Bitzer was dominant last week, averaging 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to go with 3.5 three-pointers and 1.5 steals in a pair of huge wins by the Chippewas, pushing Central Michigan into a tie atop the conference standings.
He put on a masterful display of shooting against the Eagles, hitting seven of his first nine shots to finish with a career-best 28 points. He hit 8-of-14 field goals, 4-of-8 threes and 8-of-9 free throws along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals in a complete effort.
Bitzer followed it up with a gritty performance in what felt like a postseason game against NIU, finishing with a team-high 17 points and five boards to help pull the Chippewas into a first-place tie in the West Division and the overall conference lead.
It is the first weekly MAC honor of Bitzer's career. CMU has now won six in a row at Rose Center and is off to its best start in league play (4-1) since the 2002-03 championship season.
